Spanish TV personality Ana Obregón shared details about life with her 2-year-old daughter, Anita Sandra, who was conceived via surrogacy using her late son’s sperm.
She stunned the world a few years ago when she announced the birth of her daughter, only to later reveal that it was actually her granddaughter. In case you missed it, Why Jessica Simpson is Drinking Snake Sperm.

In an interview with ¡Hola! Magazine, Ana explained, “The girl isn’t my daughter, she’s my granddaughter.”
She said she brought Anita into the world to fulfill the final wishes of her son, Aless Lequio, who wished to have an offspring.
Aless tragically passed away in 2022 from cancer, but he froze his sperm two years prior.
Obregón recently celebrated her granddaughter’s second birthday and shared heart-warming details about their life together.
She revealed her home is now “full of stuffed animals and toys”, adding: “I even have a little ball pool where she makes me dive in.”
However, she admitted that doing certain tasks has become physically demanding for the 70-year-old actress due to her age.

She revealed that as Anita gets older, picking her up becomes harder because it hurts her back.
Nevertheless, Anita seems to have brought a lot of joy to Obregón’s life after the demise of her son.
While she acknowledged that the pain of her son’s passing can never subside, she revealed that Anita “resurrected her” after she had been “dead for three years” after her son’s death.
“I know I’ll never feel the happiness I had when Aless was with me again,” she told ¡Hola! Magazine.
“That pain will never go away. You don’t accept or get over the death of a child.
“You end up accepting that you’ll never be able to come to terms with their departure.
“Fortunately, Anita now fills my days. I was dead for three years from Aless’ death until Anita was born.”

Her son Aless Lecquio was the child of Spanish aristocrat Allesandro Lecquio and nephew of former King Juan Carlos.
He died at the age of 27, two years after being diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of cancer affecting the bones and tissue around it.
Her late son’s sudden cancer diagnosis made the actress weary of life’s unpredictability and instilled a fear in her heart regarding her grand daughter.
“We live our whole lives saying that we are eternal and nothing happens here.
“Suddenly, one day they tell you at 25 years old that you have an aggressive cancer.”
“You think, that’s not what they told you when you were little. So I have many more fears [with Ana], more than when I had Aless.”
Obregón described Anita as a “being of light” adding that “she’s just as intelligent as her dad.”
“She’s always asking me for hugs, but not for herself, but so I can hug those around us.
“The other day the plumber came.. And I ended up hugging him because she asked me to,” the actress recalled.
The announcement of Anita’s arrival sparked significant controversy in Spain, where surrogacy is illegal.
Anita was born abroad in the U.S via a surrogate and was later legally adopted by Obregón as her daughter.

This was however criticized by many including Irene Montero, Spain’s equality minister, who believe “surrogacy to be a form of violence against women.”
Presidency Minister Felix Bolaños and Budget Minister Maria Jesus Montero shared the same idea as Montero.
“Women’s bodies should neither be bought nor rented to satisfy anyone’s desires,” Bolaños said.
However, Ana Obregón dismissed the criticism.
“There are criticisms and judgments. People can be judged, but it’s impossible to live without empathy,” she said.
“I believe that when fathers and mothers put themselves in my shoes and in my soul, in my pain… As I say, I was the owner of my pain. Now, I am the owner of my revival.”
