A father has been criticised for admitting he kisses his son on the lips.
But some content Tom posted on his page with his five year old child has resulted in him receiving backlash from a community on TikTok, called TikTok users @tom_leeds from Yorkshire, U.K.
Tom took to his over 400,000 followers on Instagram to share a video of him and his son showing off the colour of two of their eyes.
Towards the end of the clip, Tom pecks his boy on the lips.
People had a lot to say about the kiss in the comment section. One user writes: “Both were just gorgeous, but don’t kiss him on the lips.”
Tom responded to the comment with: And I’ll keep on kissing my son on the lips, thank you.”
In a followup video, the TikToker rebuts the comment, saying he ‘finds it worrying’ someone would have an issue with him showing that degree of affection toward his child.
He adds: “I will keep kissing my five year old son until we agree there is enough kissing.”
Tom also admits that he loves his son to pieces and is his ‘best pal.’
One TikTok user said he shouldn’t be kissing his child because bacteria in his mouth could leave his son with cavities.
His son joins him in a video reply to the comment where he says: “Don’t be silly!”
The father and son then kiss each other on camera once more.
In a separate video, he addresses a comment, reading: “Don’t kiss your kids on the lips. Fact.” Because some humans, you know, are not good people. Doesn’t make it acceptable,” I add, “do you see what I’m saying.”
The video, which has been viewed more than 200,000 times, shows Tom visibly frustrated.
He responds to the comment: “So the idea here is, if I kiss my five year old, he’s going to think he can go off and it’s OK to kiss strangers, strange adults, obviously?”
He can’t ride in my car anymore to take him places because he can get in the car of a stranger and thing that’s normal, I can’t have him in my car anymore to take him places because he can get in a stranger’s car and think that’s normal,”
“He can’t live in my house anymore because – well, he can just walk in a stranger’s house and think that’s normal,”
“Or we could, now, hear me out, or we could… tell him he’s got a mummy and a daddy and that it’s normal to kiss them, but it’s not normal to kiss dodgy Barry down the road.”
However, many users have praised the father, and one responded saying, ‘I’m flabbergasted that this guy is having to defend himself or justify why he kisses his little boy on the lips.’ People need to get a grip.”
Other types: “I’m 43 and I still kiss my dad on the lips. Ignore the haters and keep showing love to your son.”
“Something is really wrong with people if they find a problem with a parent kissing their child,” a third person adds.
A fourth replies: “I think this is a beautiful way to show your son you love him. Don’t change a thing!”
