Ellen DeGeneres, popularly known for her long running talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is a comedian, television host and producer. Before getting national attention, Ellen started her career as a standup comedian and gained quite much popularity.
In 1982, she was named as Showtime’s funniest person in America. The ladder of success and fame never stopped for Ellen ever since then and she earned multiple Emmy awards for her remarkable sense of humor.
However, her career faced controversy following allegations of workplace toxicity and harassment. Although DeGeneres herself was not accused, yet it significantly impacted her reputation and the show ended in 2022.
The philanthropist did address the allegations by mentioning about the things that happened on the set “they should have never happened” and described this experience as “devastating”. But ever since, Ellen has stayed out of the public eye.
Ellen again came to the spotlight with her Netflix special Ellen’s last stand up tour, but she has confirmed it would be her last on air presence.
She said, “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
And now Ellen has announced she’s leaving America permanently along with her family. Despite being known for their love of real estate in Montecito, the couple is set apart to relocate to the UK.
The couple had already bought a house in Cotswolds, UK, but the results of the election of US Presidency has escalated their plan of moving out.
According to reports from the Wrap, Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have taken this big decision following the recent Presidential Elections of US, 2024 and the victory of Donald Trump has led them bid farewell to America forever.
The couple has been flipping 21 properties in Santa Barbara Country, US. Known for their expertise in luxury and design renovation, Ellen and Portia have made their property flips notable and remunerated in the Real Estate world.
They are planning to sell these properties but the listing is yet to be determined.
The decision of moving to the UK reflects the preference of being at a quieter place away from the noise of fame. This would also give Ellen a break and opportunity to recover from the challenges and controversies of the past.
