Elon Musk had a one word response to boxing gender controversy at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Musk is a prominent entrepreneur and business magnate known for his influential role in the technology and space industries. Born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa, Musk displayed early talent in computing and entrepreneurship. He moved to the United States to study at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned degrees in both economics and physics.
Musk’s career began with Zip2, a company he co-founded in 1996, which provided online city guides and maps. It was sold to Compaq for nearly $300 million in 1999. Musk then founded X.com, an online payment company that eventually became PayPal after a merger. In 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion, earning Musk a significant fortune.
In 2002, Musk founded SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp.) with the vision of reducing space transportation costs to enable the colonization of Mars. SpaceX has achieved numerous milestones, including the development of the Falcon and Starship rockets, and becoming the first private company to send astronauts to the International Space Station.
In 2004, Musk joined Tesla Motors (now Tesla, Inc.), initially as chairman and later as CEO. The controversy surrounding Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Italy’s Angela Carini is still gaining traction online.
Khelif – who was declared the winner on the welterweight fight after her opponent surrendered 46 seconds in – was disqualified from the 2023 World Championships after failing her gender eligibility tests due to elevated levels of testosterone.
The Algerian athlete’s presence at this year’s games has angered many online. Carini shared on X “Men don’t belong in women’s sports #IStandWithAngelaCarini.”

The IOC said:
“Everyone competing in the women’s category is complying with the competition eligibility rules,” Adams said. “They are women in their passports and it’s stated that this is the case, that they are female.”
