Now, Google’s calendars no longer have default date references to LGBTQ+ events, Black History Month, or Women’s History Month, among other months.
Previously, Black History Month appeared in February and Pride Month in June on the search engine, but they disappeared in 2025 months.
According to The Guardian, Google ‘couldn’t sustain’ including events.

“Some years ago, the Calendar team started manually adding a broader set of cultural moments in a wide number of countries around the world,” a spokesperson for Google told the outlet.
“We got feedback that some other events and countries were missing – and maintaining hundreds of moments manually and consistently globally wasn’t scalable or sustainable,” the statement continued.
“So in mid-2024 we returned to showing only public holidays and national observances from timeanddate.com globally, while allowing users to manually add other important moments.”
The latest changes by Google come amid the beginning of Donald Trump‘s second time as the President of the United States.

Nonetheless, the sudden change has sparked a mixed response, as Google Calendar users can still manually add dates like cultural events.
“Google has removed Black History Month, Pride Month, Indigenous Peoples Day, Native American History Month, and Hispanic Heritage Month from populating on calendars on Android phones,” one user said (as per GB News).
“This is shameful,” the user added.
“Reinstate these calendar dates!!!”
“These bootlickers have immediately shown us who they are,” another added. “I thought I was the only one who noticed!”
“Grow a pair google,” a third riled up user chimed in.
However, not all seem as displeased.
“Right here and THANK GOD they did this i didn’t need a stupid token month to be feel wanted and special as a gay. It’s literally demeaning,” one X user wrote.
“I couldn’t care less about this,” another added.
“Nobody uses calendar anyway,” a third joked.
