Jessie J has shared an emotional update after revealing that the past two years have taken a significant toll on her following her cancer battle and a series of major changes in her personal life.

The singer has been remarkably open with fans throughout her health journey, documenting everything from her initial diagnosis and surgery to her recovery.

Jessie was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2025, with the news coming after what had already been a difficult period in her life.

The ‘Price Tag’ hitmaker subsequently underwent a mastectomy and breast reconstruction, while continuing to balance her career with raising her young son, Sky.

Her illness also forced her to make difficult decisions about her music career, including postponing planned performances while she concentrated on getting better.

Despite the challenges, Jessie continued to share honest updates with her followers, often refusing to hide the more difficult sides of her experience.

And after an incredibly challenging year, she eventually received the news she had been hoping for.

Jessie J’s cancer journey

Jessie first announced her breast cancer diagnosis in June 2025.

At the time, she tried to focus on the fact that doctors had caught the disease at an early stage.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early,’” she told fans.

“But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug.”

The singer later explained just how unexpectedly she had received the diagnosis.

Speaking to The Guardian, Jessie recalled receiving a message from her doctor asking her to arrange a call.

“I was, like, ‘Oh, it’s a Zoom, it won’t be anything,’” she said.

“So I jump on the Zoom thinking it’s all going to be good, and she goes, ‘Are you sitting down?’ You know that sad tone they use?”

Her doctor then delivered the devastating news that her test results had revealed high-grade cancer cells.

Jessie underwent surgery in June 2025 and subsequently faced the difficult process of recovery.

Her treatment meant she had to postpone a planned tour, explaining to fans that she needed to put her health first.

“I need to be healed, and I know this is the right decision to make,” she said.

“So I’m postponing the tour till next year.”

The singer also admitted that she had to be realistic about what her body could handle.

“You guys know how much I want to do all of it, but I just can’t.

“And I have to be realistic.”

Her son became a major source of strength

Throughout her cancer battle, Jessie repeatedly spoke about her son and the effect becoming a mother had had on her outlook.

The singer had previously spoken about struggling to conceive for around a decade before welcoming Sky, making motherhood an especially important part of her life.

In an interview with The Project, she described the joy her little boy had brought her.

“It’s the magic of my little Sky… I love my boy so much. I’m living my best life. Being a mum as well and having a career and a child and having both, I’m loving it.”

But when Jessie was first told that she had cancer, her thoughts immediately turned to her child.

Recalling the moment she received the diagnosis, she said: “I said, ‘Oh, that’s not ideal, is it? That’s not f***ing great timing.’

“The first thing I thought was, ‘I can’t die because my son needs me.’”

The emotional admission showed just how frightening the diagnosis had been for the singer, despite doctors stressing that her cancer had been caught early.

Jessie continued to work through the difficult period where possible, while also adjusting to life following surgery.

Fans supported Jessie through her recovery

Jessie has consistently been praised for allowing fans to see the reality of her experience rather than presenting an entirely polished version of recovery.

When she was forced to postpone her performances, followers flooded her social media accounts with messages of support.

One fan told her: “Sending you all the best lights for your healing process and thanks for being who you are… such a beautiful and sincere soul!”

Another wrote: “Your health IS and always will be our priority.”

A third added: “You are an absolute warrior, and everyone will support you. Stay strong and get stronger.”

Another fan encouraged Jessie to concentrate on spending time with her son, writing: “Girl take your time and be with your little sunshine.”

Jessie was visibly moved by the response.

“I’m scrolling these comments in bed right now, sobbing my eyes out,” she admitted.

“The LOVE and SUPPORT and UNDERSTANDING. Is felt. Thank YOU.”

Her openness also led to Jessie encouraging people to check their breasts and armpits regularly and pay attention to changes in their bodies.

Jessie finally received the news she had been waiting for

Almost a year after first revealing her diagnosis, Jessie shared an enormously positive update in May 2026.

Following an annual check-up and MRI, the singer revealed that she was cancer-free.

The news came after months of surgery, treatment and recovery, with Jessie later describing the emotional reaction she had when she received the results.

She said she had “sobbed for hours” after finding out that there was no longer evidence of breast cancer.

For the singer, the result represented a huge turning point after one of the most difficult periods of her life.

However, being cancer-free did not mean that the effects of everything she had experienced simply disappeared.

Jessie had already undergone major surgery and reconstruction, and recovery remained an ongoing process.

At the same time, she continued navigating the pressures of performing, motherhood and a rapidly changing personal life.

The past two years have taken their toll

Alongside her health battle, Jessie has experienced several other major changes.

She moved from the US back to the UK and continued working on her music, eventually releasing her first album in eight years.

She also balanced her career while raising Sky and, according to her latest comments, took on much of the work involved in managing her own social media presence and styling.

In July 2026, it was also reported that Jessie had separated from Chanan Colman, her partner of around five years.

The singer said the split had been difficult but that the pair were focused on maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship for their son.

“It has been a sad and difficult situation, but we have been focused on navigating the change privately and positively for a healthy and happy co-parenting environment for our son and ourselves,” she said.

With so many major events happening at once, Jessie has now admitted that she needs to step away and give herself time to recover emotionally as well as physically.

Jessie J issues heartbreaking cancer update

In a new Instagram statement, per the Sun, Jessie revealed that she is taking a lengthy break from social media as she prepares to undergo another cancer reconstruction surgery.

The singer stressed that she is okay, but admitted that she is not currently at her best.

“I want to start this post off by saying I am ok. I am not at my best but very far from my worst. I know people can twist these kinds of posts,” she wrote.

Jessie went on to reflect on everything she has experienced over the past two years.

“It’s no secret that the last 2 years have been magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy,” she said.

“I have loved the last 2 years mostly, hated it in moments and learnt the most I have ever learnt about myself and what I want from my life and mostly what I want it to FEEL like.”

The singer said the intensity of the period had eventually caught up with her.

“The past 2 years has taken a toll on parts of me that I haven’t had time to give space and grace to,” she continued.

Jessie explained that she now wants to step away from the online world and concentrate on herself, her recovery and her family.

“Now’s the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please.”

“So I’m tapping out of this [world] for a while and into my real one. To give my mind, body and heart a well needed hug.”

She then revealed the reason for the break.

“To finally have my second cancer reconstruction surgery, to recharge, heal, to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy, to water the next chapter of my life and most importantly be present and really live.”

Jessie thanked her fans for supporting her throughout the past two years and suggested she may still check in occasionally because of work commitments.
