John Cena recently opened up about an “awkward” intimate scene he filmed with Amy Schumer for the 2015 comedy film Trainwreck.

Cena, who has played various roles in movies like Ricky Stanicky and The Suicide Squad, portrayed one of Schumer’s character’s flings in the film.

During the scene, Cena’s character, Steven, is asked by Schumer’s character Amy to “mix it up a little bit” and “talk dirty” during their intimate moment.

However, Steven struggles with this request and ends up saying cringeworthy lines like “I’ll fill you with protein” and “I’ll put my green drink in you.”

Despite the awkwardness of the scene, Cena praised Schumer for creating a comfortable environment on set.

On Club Shay Shay podcast John Cena shared “Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable, and then when I got the part, eventually they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a sex scene.

“We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex, and all those lines you had?”

“We’re probably not going to use them, we’re just going to do this stunt sex scene.”

Cena admitted that filming sex scenes is “the worst” due to the large crew present and the lack of intimacy.

He added, “Oh my God, it’s the worst. This is the thing – right now, you guys at home think it’s just us. No, there’s a whole f**king world back here. There are so many people you need to make a movie. There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing.

The actor described the experience as “real embarrassing,” particularly when tasked with making the scene as awkward as possible, which was part of the comedic intent.

He explained, “So it’s real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you’re making fun of yourself.”

Although the scene has been widely praised for its humor, Schumer jokingly expressed her disagreement with Cena’s assessment in her Instagram stories.

Sharing a broken heart in the caption, she wrote, “John, how dare you? That sex scene meant a lot to me, and I was, like, very into it.”

“And I’m in love with you.”

John Cena’s latest film Jackpot is currently streaming on Prime Video.
