Kate Winslet has a reputation for totally submerging herself in her performances, and Little Children (2006) was no different.
Her co-star describes filming one scene as having been so physically demanding that she emerged from it battered.
Winslet acted the role of Sarah Pierce, a cheating woman suffering from suburban unhappiness in Little Children.
The movie, adapted from Tom Perrotta’s novel, is about quiet wars, lust, and love. The performance by Winslet was greatly appreciated by the critics. But in actuality, she suffered much in the making of the movie to ensure that she delivered an authentic performance of her character.
Her co-star, Patrick Wilson, who played her screen boyfriend Brad Adamson, recently revealed that shooting their sizzling and dramatic scenes was taxing for Winslet.
The film’s most dramatic scene pitted Winslet’s and Wilson’s characters against each other in a raging argument.
Wilson talked about an interview in which she explained how Winslet gave everything to the scene, leaving her with “lots of bruises” from the physically demanding nature of acting.
He praised her dedication, saying, to The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywood podcast,
“Kate is one of the most fearless actresses I’ve ever worked with. She doesn’t hold back, and that’s what makes her performances so powerful.”
Winslet is no stranger to pushing herself for a role. She has previously spoken about her commitment to fully embodying her characters, even if it means enduring physical pain.
