Like every other day, the Jensen family was having a regular day, till the tragedy happened and flipped their life upside down. Samantha Jensen, mother of two – the 3-year-old Scarlett and her younger brother 2-year-old Henry, had to go attend a wedding. In her absence, Scarlett’s grandmother was caring for the little girl and boy, who took them out on a little joyous trip that also included the kid’s favorite – eating an ice-cream.

After their cheerful stroll, grandmother brought the two kids back home. In their driveway, the adorable Scarlett got out of her stroller and started picking flowers. Mesmerized by the delightful sight of her adorable kid, grandmother took her phone out and took a picture of smiling Scarlett with the flowers – carefree in her world, not knowing what’s going to happen next.

A couple of minutes later, a speeding Chevy Tahoe entered the driveway and struck all three family members accidentally. Scarlett, “silliest and sweetest little girl” as described by her mother, died on the scene. The picture taken exactly five minutes before the tragic accident became her last picture alive that Samantha has. Saddened by the terrible incident, Scarlett recalls, and “She was supposed to have a soccer game the day after she died and she was so excited to run around and play with her friends”
Scarlett’s grandmother and her younger brother, who were also hit by the speeding vehicle, suffered critical injuries and fractures. Henry, who was only 2 years old, stayed in NICU because of her fractured spine and critical injuries but thankfully he recovered completely.

The driver who failed to stop in time and caused the crash, fled from the scene but was later arrested by the police from near vicinity. He is now serving a ten year sentence. The last picture of Scarlett alive is now a bittersweet memory for her mother, Samantha.
In her TikTok post she wrote, “My mom took this picture at 4:47 pm and my daughter’s time of death was 4:52. My mom didn’t know she was capturing the last moments of her life. This one is really hard for me to look at, just knowing what comes next breaks my heart.”

The picture which was difficult to look at initially has now become a cherished memory of Scarlett for her mother. Two years later, she now shares,
“I am so incredibly thankful to have that photo. It captures the peaceful feeling of her last moments, the beauty she was surrounded by when she took her last breaths. I will forever picture her happy and carefree, picking flowers with her best friend and Meemaw.”
