Breastfeeding is one of the most essential acts of motherhood. Yet, it continues to be surrounded by misconceptions and stigma even in the 21st century. Despite medical experts advocating for breastfeeding because of its numerous benefits, many women still face shaming even from their own partners.
Recently, an unsettling incident went viral, which sparked widespread debate online. A woman shared screenshots of her texts exchanged with her husband on Reddit, which has stunned everyone. Her husband named David threatened to divorce his wife for an “absurd reason”.
The man stated that he wanted to divorce his wife because her breasts had “been in another man’s mouth”. That “man” being none other than their newborn son. The Internet has taken by storm with many criticizing the husband’s shocking ignorance on breastfeeding.
Users commented ridiculing the husband’s bizarre reasoning saying,
“Imagine being so insecure that you compete with a literal baby”
Another one commented,
“Does he think he married a Victoria’s Secret model, not a mother?”
In the screenshots, the first few messages show how he questioned his wife about why she was breastfeeding at all, stating,
“You know how I f**ing feel about that.”
“I finally understand that you truly don’t disrespect me.”
“I’m done.”
The husband continued claiming the wife was being disrespectful to him. He argued that formula feeding provides the same nutritional value as breastfeeding, a claim that many health experts strongly disagree with. The furious husband bashed his wife saying he would “never be able to look at” her the same way again.
He continued ranting,
“I think you’re a bad wife”
“I think you don’t respect me. I think you took a joy away from me.”
The clearly troubled husband made shocking accusations against the mother. He even labelled her “incestuous” on a very natural act of breastfeeding to their very own son. He said,
“I enjoy your b**bs. Now they’ve been in another man’s mouth, I no longer enjoy your b**bs.”
“He’s male. And your son. That makes it incestuous in my eyes.”
Could it get any worse that the outrageous husband kept escalating the matter and called his wife “bi*ch” claiming “she is making matters worse.”
He straightaway discussed divorcing the breastfeeding mother and even talked about the children’s custody. What an irony the husband brought up the divorce matter on a mere natural act of motherhood and then started acting all gentleman by saying,
“I’m going to talk to the lawyer about 50/50 custody because no matter how much I hate you, I would never keep the boys from you.”
He added,
“You can stay at the house for as ever long as you need. I’ll sleep in Wylder’s room”
The wife cleared,
“I just didn’t want to fight over me breastfeeding.”
She also mentioned in a now deleted statement, she was in the process of divorcing him and that he had even sexualized her bathing their two sons.
“I was told that after a certain age, I won’t be allowed to facilitate baths or diaper changes or be in any situation where I’ll see the kids undressed,”
