Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recently made headlines for both a personal health update and her fearless new business ventures.
Along with discussing the intimate experience of miscarriage and postpartum sickness, Meghan has also emerged as a more resilient entrepreneur, mother, and content creator.
At 43, Meghan rechristened her lifestyle company, previously American Riviera Orchard, with a fresh and more meaningful name, As Ever.

The company launched with nine beautiful hand-styled offerings, including tea blends, fruit preserves, honey, crepe mix, and edible flower sprinkles. They sold out in one hour—a signal of intense public interest and love for the new brand.
The brand reflects Meghan’s values: simple pleasures, quality of life, and the beauty of everyday moments. With its earthy and warm looks, As Ever is meant to feel intimate and inviting, much like Meghan herself.
In addition to her lifestyle brand, Meghan is making waves in the entertainment world. Her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has had a lot of attention. Although there has been some criticism on social media, the series has had enough backing for Netflix to confirm a season two.
Meghan has also just released the first episode of her podcast mini-series, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” where she interviews other women about founding businesses. She interviews Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd on her first episode. The two women exchange stories about how they are working mothers and female leaders in today’s fast-paced world.

Meghan had a poignant moment from her own life to share:
“Lilibet will be sitting on my lap at some meetings, right in front of all the executives on the screen. And to be honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I don’t want to miss those little things, like picking up and dropping off at school.
“Motherhood and her career life were also very significant to her, and that both professions have high value in the world.”
Meghan admitted that she suffered a miscarriage in July 2020 while taking care of her little son, Archie. She told how she suddenly felt a piercing cramp, and before she knew it, she realized something was wrong.
Meghan explained the tragic moment in her own words, stating that it was like “an almost unbearable grief.
She had already written about the experience in a forceful essay for The New York Times, where she urged others to speak of pregnancy loss freely—something most women endure in secret. She relives the experience again today to offer solidarity to women who are still recovering from similar experiences.
Meghan revealed that she also got postpartum preeclampsia—a potentially life-threatening condition that one can acquire after giving birth.

Preeclampsia gives rise to high blood pressure and can lead to other life-threatening complications if not treated immediately. Meghan explained it as a scary experience and added that it made her think about how much less women’s health is talked about when giving birth.
She discussed how so many women silently endure severe health problems to remain together, getting by taking care of their baby, keeping their home intact, and going back to work.
Meghan hoped others would know she did this so other women wouldn’t feel like they were the only ones battling it.
Despite the pain and health issues Meghan went through, she stated that motherhood is still one of the best joys in her life. She described her children as loving and said they motivate her every day to continue.
Meghan also stated that it was not easy telling her story, but she was required to break the silence for women’s health, loss, and healing.
Meghan’s honesty and bravery in talking about such personal topics have moved many hearts. She intends to initiate healthier conversations about motherhood, health, and emotional well-being and to remind others that it is okay to seek help, speak your truth, and heal.
