Miley Cyrus has reacted to the news that her younger sister, Noah Cyrus, allegedly dated her mom’s husband, Dominic Purcell.
Look, families are a complicated beast, and that’s no different for celebrities. In fact, sometimes the added complication of living your life on the global stage can make things even more messy.
One famed family, who have faced their fair share of public drama over the years, is the Cyruses, particularly after Miley’s parents, Billy Ray and Tish called time on their nearly-30-year marriage in April 2022.
However, it wasn’t the fact that the celebrity couple split that got people talking the most. It was actually the people they started dating after becoming single that stirred up the most controversy.
Billy Ray and Tish both remarried quickly
Billy Ray, who of course carved out a name for himself long before his daughter became one of the biggest pop stars in the world, made headlines when he controversially married a significantly younger woman who he met on the Hannah Montana set.
The country singer married musician Firerose in 2023, but they divorced the following year, with Billy Rae initially requesting an annulment on the grounds of fraud, claiming the singer as ‘physically, verbally and emotionally abusive’ in his lawsuit — which she has vehemently denied.
Now, Billy Rae is said to be dating British actress Elizabeth Hurley, after they met while co-starring in the 2022 movie Christmas in Paradise. The pair are said to have reconnected when Elizabeth reached out over text during his public divorce from Firerose.
Meanwhile, Tish has also moved on, and in 2023 she married actor Dominic Purcell, who is best known for appearing as Lincoln Burrows in Prison Break. The pair appear to still be happily married, however news of their relationship has been dogged with alarming reports that Tish isn’t the first woman in the Cyrus clan to date him.
Reports Noah Cyrus used to date her mom’s husband
It’s reported that Miley’s younger sister Noah, who is also a successful singer and actress, used to date Dominic herself, and it’s fair to say the internet had a hard time coming to terms with that news.
Billy Rae and Tish share five children together, including daughters Brandi, Miley and Noah, and sons Trace and Braison.
Tish first announced her engagement to the actor in April 2023, tying the knot in Miley’s Malibu home in August of the same year. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that Noah and Braison were absent from the ceremony.
In fact, while the ceremony was taking place, Noah took to Instagram to show how she was spending time with Braison, who had flown to California to visit her. Many people have taken these photos as a covert message of support for their dad, particularly given the fact Noah was even wearing a Billy Rae Cyrus T-shirt on the day.
However, it is now widely believed that Noah wasn’t actually invited to the nuptials, after reports emerged suggesting Tish ‘stole’ her husband from her daughter.
A source told Us Weekly: “Noah was [seeing] Dominic when Tish started pursuing him,” claiming that Tish was ‘aware’ of the situation.
“The turmoil between Noah and Tish goes far beyond [what people think]. Noah is very distraught over Tish stealing Dominic from her.”
An insider tells People: “Noah and Dominic were seeing each other in a friends-with-benefits way, off and on. They stopped seeing each other and then Tish started something up,” adding that ‘Tish knew he had been seeing Noah.’
The insider notes: “Tish never gave Noah the chance to talk about all of this before they got married.”
Another source said Tish and Dominic are ‘working on communication and sought therapy together,’ following the fallout of the whole situation.
Miley Cyrus reacts to the situation
Thankfully, it seems the mother and daughter duo are also working to repair their relationship, with Noah taking to Instagram to wish her mom a happy birthday, despite ongoing reports of a rift between them.
The pair have reportedly been spotted spending time together in Los Angeles too.
Unsurprisingly, many people have been wondering what Miley makes of the whole drama, given her close relationship with both her sister and her mom and now she appears to have shared her two cents.
An insider claims: “Miley had no idea about the drama with Dominic. No idea at all. She confronted her mom about it. She thinks it’s a strange situation, but she loves her mom and wants her to be happy.”
