Mortal Kombat 2 Production Has Begun for Live-Action Sequel

The Mortal Kombat 2 production for New Line Cinema’s upcoming fantasy action sequel to the 2021 adaptation has begun.

According to a tweet from producer Todd Garner, production has started for the sequel to New Line Cinema’s fantasy action film, Mortal Kombat. Garner stated that they have learned from their mistakes in the first movie and are dedicated to creating the best possible MK2. Currently, Warner Bros. has not announced a release date for the sequel.

Who’s the Cast of Mortal Kombat 2?

Simon McQuoid is directing Mortal Kombat 2 and the screenplay is written by Jeremy Slater, the head writer for Moon Knight. The cast includes the return of Lewis Tan as Cole Young, as well as Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.

In the upcoming sequel, you can expect to see new characters such as Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Martyn Ford as Emperor Shao Kahn, Damon Herriman as Netherrealm demon Quan Chi, Desmond Chiam as Edenian King Jerrod, and Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel.

The plot details for the next installment are currently undisclosed. The producers are James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, and E. Bennet Walsh.
