He continued: “What I don’t do is I don’t go running into vegan restaurants and start screaming abuse at you all and have to be pulled out by people because you’re ruining everyone’s fun.”
In response, McGovern said the host had begun the interview with an ‘absolute blinder,’ before explaining precision fermentation, which uses microorganisms to produce specific functional ingredients, per The Good Food Institute.
He claimed this process is capable of creating animal protein using a ‘fraction of the land’ and ‘carbon footprint.’

Morgan interjected this, stating: “But I like eating meat.”
McGovern was then questioned on what he eats, to which he said enjoys ‘seasonal British fruit and veg’ and ‘supporting British farmers.’
As the debate continued, Morgan told the Animal Rebellion member that ‘none of you make me want to change my mind,’ at which point a steak dinner was brought out for him to enjoy.
The host said: “Here’s my point, I love eating steak. I’m not going to stop eating steak. And the very last thing on earth that will stop me eating steak is people like you with your pasty faces running into our restaurants and telling us to stop eating steak.”
McGovern responded: “That is absolutely fine, Piers.”
Concluding the debate, Morgan told the activist: “If you want to win an argument, you just can’t be annoying all the time.”
