Lulu was a tiny little dog with sparkling black eyes and bright white fur on her body. Naria Harutjunjan, rescued this adorable pup, a year before the incident.
Based in North hills, Los Angeles, US, Naria Harutjunjan was fond of her mini adorable pet and the two developed a unique bond over the time.
Lulu was not the only one who was the apple of eye of Naria. Cookie was another pet owned by Naria and together Lulu and Cookie shared a strong and affectionate bond with her owner. They were companions and playful mates before the tragic passing away of Lulu.
The Los Angeles resident is now talking about the devastating incident that took Lulu away from her forever.
That day, in the evening, Lulu and Cookie were playing together in the garden at around 5pm. A UPS driver came to deliver a package of Amazon to Harutjunjan’s residence.
When Harutjunjan came out to bring her two dogs inside, she could only spot cookie. Desperately, she tried to find the adorable Lulu but all efforts went in vain.
It wasn’t until when Harutjunjan lifted the parcel, she was baffled to see lifeless Lulu under the package. Lulu was so tiny, weighing even less than half the size of parcel that was thrown on her.
Neighbors that gathered on the scene helped Harutjunjan quickly rush towards Mission Hill Clinic but sadly the dog had passed away.
CCTV footage from neighbors revealed a UPS van approaching the gate to drop the package. The driver allegedly threw the heavy parcel of 55 pounds tossing the gate – the parcel that landed on Lulu and trapped her beneath itself. The driver is then reportedly seen squatting down and looking inside. Whether he could see the dog or not is unclear. However, the negligence of the driver took away the little pet’s life.
About this dreadful incident, UPS has issued a statement saying:
“We recently learned of the situation in North Hills. We are certainly concerned and will contact the customer. We will investigate and take appropriate action.”
UPS has, however, not clarified if there was any action taken against the driver or whether he has breached any protocol of company by throwing the parcel.
This is not the first time any dog is harmed due to alleged throwing of parcels across the gate. There should be a written policy to avoid such incidents.
Now, Naria Harutjunjan is considering to take a legal action against the driver, UPS and Amazon. We hope this step can secure lives, in future, from getting harmed.
