Photographer Simon Menner has managed to capture examples of this in his ‘Camouflage’ series, which focused on photographing a number of different environments with one thing in common: there were snipers hidden in every image.
Personally, I don’t think I’d stick around to snap a photo if I knew there was a highly trained shooter nearby—especially if I couldn’t see them. But Menner held his ground and took the shot.
The camera shot, that is.
On his website, Menner explains that “Although they remain unseen due to their expertise, each of these images contains hidden snipers. Their aim is directed at the camera, and by extension, at the viewer.”
