There is no shortage of iconic slasher films for horror enthusiasts. However, this new horror film is being described as one of the most unsettling films by fans and critics alike.
What makes this movie a thrilling and distinct experience is the killer’s perspective, this movie is shot from. This enables the viewers to have a disturbing and immersive view of the events from the lens of the killer.
Fans have expressed a mix of awe and unease on social media and described it as “disturbing” and “gruesomely fascinating”. The twist of being shot from the killer’s perspective provided the movie its intense and unconventional style – which is the major talking point.
A fan on reddit commented, “This POV style makes you feel like you’re the killer. It’s so unsettling that I had to pause and catch my breath a few times.”
Another one said, “One scene in the film was disgusting, I had to take a ten-minute break because I was genuinely disturbed.”
The conversations on X, formerly known as twitter, is no different. One user commented, “Johnny’s backstory is haunting. I felt conflicted rooting for and against him. Brilliantly crafted horror!”
The unique twist of this horror movie has taken the internet by storm. Many are praising its originality and acknowledging its unsettling nature.
Stephen King, famously known as King of Horror, himself praised the film for its intense style of seeing the murders firsthand, calling it “leisurely but terrifying when the blood flows.”
Catherine Bray, a critic-broadcaster, said: “From a horror fan’s point of view, this is an absolutely fascinating experiment with form.”
We’re talking about the horror-est movie claimed by fans – “In a Violent Nature”.
Having an impressive score of 78% on rotten tomatoes, this horror movie is keeping the fans hooked and nail biting. According to Film Updates, an audience member even vomited during the screening of this much hyped horror movie at the Chicago Critics Film Festival.
The terrifying synopsis of the movie states, “When a group of teens takes a locket from a collapsed fire tower in the woods, they unwittingly resurrect the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime.”
This movie breaks the cycle of what’s conventional by shooting the movie in a national park, giving an unsettling atmosphere to the movie. The decision which was taken initially because of budget constraints, is now the key feature everyone is talking about.
While discussing about the unconventional approach of the movie, the director Chris Nash said,
“We didn’t have the biggest budget to do something crazy and wild with lighting and stuff, and I was like, ‘Well, let’s just go supernaturalistic.‘” Adding, “We tried to treat it almost like making a nature documentary where we’re just following something, or following a letter carrier at work, just going from house to house.”
However, despite having a limited budget, the movie turned out to be just amazing and fans are not getting over it.
