The Avengers star, Elizabeth Olsen, has confirmed she will not appear in the upcoming MCU movies.

Olsen played the role of Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She appeared in six MCU films, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014 to her most recent appearance in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The last film’s conclusion left Wanda’s fate open-ended, leaving fans anticipating her return in the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War, due for release in 2026 and 2027.

However, Olsen has put these speculations to rest, confirming that she was also not involved in the significant reshoots of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“I wasn’t part of the reshoots,” Olsen said, noting she was filming HBO’s Love and Death.

Looking ahead, the star wishes to expand her scope and work on diverse projects beyond Marvel, stating, “It’s really important for me to make choices outside of Marvel that reflect my own taste. “Your taste does create the artist that you are, and that wasn’t something I was thinking about when I first started working.”

Additionally, she confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood that she is not involved in the ongoing filming in London for the two upcoming movies.

When asked whether directors Joe and Anthony Russo were “extending [her] stay” in London, she replied:

“No, I’m back [in the States].”

Moving forward, Olsen is now set to work on a new project, titled The Seven Sisters.

“I just finished [Panic Carefully]. I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters]. I’m really excited about it.”

Despite Olsen’s denial regarding her presence in the upcoming movies, some fans expect otherwise, given Marvel’s history of keeping plot details under wraps until the very end, with actors often denying involvement before surprise reveals.

Dafne Keen, who starred in The Acolyte, also admitted misleading the press last year about her role as Laura in Deadpool and Wolverine.

However, it seems Olsen might be telling the truth this time, considering Wanda is missing from the latest cast list for Avengers: Domsday.

The cast so far includes familiar faces like Robert Downey Jr., who is, however, playing the villain Doctor Victor Von Doom rather than the usual Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Chris Hemsworth is set to return as Thor, and his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America will be played by Anthony Mackie.

Other confirmed cast members include Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, and the new Fantastic Four cast, including Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
