Viewers praise a ‘phenomenal’ TV show and call it a ’10/10′ as they binge the whole thing in one night.
It’s that time of year when we’re all looking for a reason to sit down on our couch and not get back up.
Luckily, there’s a whole host of brand-new, binge-able series out there for us to enjoy.
But there is one show in particular that you may not heard of as it’s seriously underrated.
People are taking to social media and showering praise on the program, with one fan writing: “Binged it – so good.”
Another adds: “I had to watch all episodes last night. What an amazing drama. Epically written and what an amazing cast.”
“Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Highly recommend,” comments a third viewer.
Somebody else says: “Just phenomenal.”
The series has also received praise from critics, with The Guardian‘s Phil Harrison calling it his show of the week, adding: “A darkly plotted and sunnily staged piece of escapism.”
Digital Spy agreed, penning: “You’ll have a right rollicking good time while you’re in the thick of it.”
“It is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser because the conditions for a drama are pre-baked into it – it is fertile soil for commentary on the human condition, for romance, action, and deception,” wrote Emma Loffhagen in the London Evening Standard.
The Castaways is a mystery thriller set in an enticingly sunny and tropical location.
Adapted from The Sunday Times bestseller of the same name by Lucy Clarke, the series stars Sheridan Smith and Céline Buckens as sisters.
Its synopsis reads: “Lori and Erin are on the holiday of a lifetime to Fiji. But after a huge fight, Erin never boards their final flight and the plane never arrives at its destination.
“Months later, no plane has been found, no survivors discovered. Until now.
“Each shocking twist will help to reveal the truth about what happened to Lori and the other passengers – a truth that someone on the island will kill to keep secret.”
On Virgin Radio U.K., Smith opened up about working on the TV series and how it’s ‘so different’ to anything she’s done before.
The actress said: “I can’t swim. I’m scared of heights. I’m scared of spiders. I’m scared of everything. And I took this job. I took it on one episode. I’d read one episode, which was the plane crash, and I thought ‘I can deal with that.’ Then suddenly, I’m in the water for four episodes… and I can’t swim. And also jumping off cliffs. But I’ve conquered some fears!
“I’m pleased I did it. It’s really action-packed and so different from anything I’ve done before.”
She added: “There’s so many twists and turns, and then also once I’m on the island, the survivors of the plane crash, there’s all kinds of suspicions going on. My character is immediately suspicious of people.”
