Sofía Vergara, famously known for her captivating presence on screen, is undeniably a gifted actress. A Colombian-American actress, model, and businesswoman, Vergara has earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her role in Modern Family has made her a household name, earning her critical acclaim and a devoted fan base. The talented actress has also served as a judge on America’s Got Talent.
The charisma and comedic timing of the talented beauty makes Vergara one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. While talent for sure takes center stage, the on-set interactions are equally important to maintain the actor’s reputation. Vergara, despite having comedic brilliance and stunning performance on TV, faced claims about her behavior behind the scenes and has been accused of diva behavior on set.
Guest star Kelly Mantle, who portrayed a drag queen in the 2019 Modern Family episode “The Last Halloween,” had much to say about Vergara. Referring to the comedy queen as the “rudest celebrity” on a wig-related disagreement, Mantle said,
“It was not the most pleasant experience I’ve ever experienced.”
While having a conversation on the Bald and the Beautiful podcast with Trixie and Katya, she revealed.
“It wasn’t toward me. It was the way that some of her staff were being treated.”
She continued, explaining the incident where Vergara resisted using hairpins to secure her wig,
“In the episode, she’s wearing a wig, and they kept wanting to put bobby pins in it, and she kept telling them no bobby pins.”
She added,
“They yell action, and I’m supposed to put the crown on her hair. So I put the crown on, and then they say cut.”
“And she’s like, ‘Watch out for the wig! You’re putting the crown on my head!’” Vargara responded who was clearly upset.
Mantle intervened,
“Well, girl, you should have put those bobby pins in.”
Mantle later expressed hope that it was just an off day for the Colombian-American actress, adding she still finds her “hilarious.”
“Maybe it was a bad day. I’m just going to say it was a bad day. Because she’s hilarious, and beautiful, and talented, and gorgeous. I’m sure it was a bad day.”
Unfortunately, Mantle is not the first to speak out about Sofia Vergara. Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey also described the Hot Pursuit star as “lacking humility”. While talking to Melissa Pfeister, on the podcast Namaste B$tches, she spilled the details about the star.
“Sofia Vergara’s PR person and my PR person spoke together, and I guess the two of them said, ‘Let’s get a picture of Teresa and Sofia together.’”
Giudice recalled Vergara seemed reluctant and questioned why the photo was needed.
“I didn’t want a picture with her.”
“I never ask to take a picture with anybody.”
“I didn’t care to take a picture with her.”
“I’m so not like that.”
Guidice added while the picture was being taken, Vergara positioned herself in front of her, creating an awkward situation.
“When we went to go take a picture, she was like standing in front of me. It’s like, OK, that’s not how you take a picture.’”
Guidice continued telling,
“She was like, the most rudest woman I’ve ever met.”
She also mentioned overhearing Vergara’s PR team talk about the photo, implying that Vergara wasn’t keen on the idea.
“I saw her whole demeanour, and then I heard her say to her PR person, ‘Why you making me take a picture with that lady?’”
Guidice concluded saying,
“She’s so not a humble person. She forgot where she came from. She was so not a down-to-earth person.”
